    Tankard - "Zombie Attack"

Tankard never achieved the level of notoriety their German thrash metal brethren Kreator, Destruction and Sodom had in their heyday, but Tankard came from a different place. While Kreator and Sodom started as proto-death metal bands heavily influenced by Venom, Tankard was a true crossover band with a heavy hardcore punk influence to their lightning fast assault. Of course this went away in later releases as they became more of a traditional thrash band, just like their German peers, but their classic debut, Zombie Attack, remains one of the great crossover records. There's nary a gallop, groove or any other distinguishing thrash songwriting technique employed here beyond the outright speed. It's just a fast as fuck, Motorhead style romp that's even more punk influenced than D.RI.'s seminal "Crossover" album. Of course it wouldn't be a Tankard album without some hilarious beer fueled lyrics so I posted the classic "(Empty) Tankard".
